The Bundesliga is back from the Corona break, as the first serious professional league in the world. After a break of two months, the games are underway in the stadiums of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga since May 16. The season is scheduled to be completed by the end of June – not much time, which is why the DFL is planning double fixture weeks: The first starts on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. (CEST) with the absolute top game in the Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund welcomes Bayern Munich!
No spectators at the clash of the two German powerhorses
There are pictures that we have to get used to for now: Completely orphaned ranks in the Bundesliga. Respirators and distance on the reserve benches. Player interviews with a long microphones, but above all: no atmosphere! BVB defender Mats Hummels, who meets his ex-colleagues on Tuesday, still says: “Sure, it is a disadvantage for the home team if you don’t have any fans, but the same general conditions apply to all teams.“
Dortmund – Bayern: FCB won almost half of all duels
There was a duel between Borussia from Dortmund and the Munichs 123 times, and the South Germans held the upper hand 60 times. BVB won 33 times, 30 duels ended in a draw. Striking: The last six encounters (4x league, 1x DFB Cup, 1x Super Cup) were always won by the host. The last Bayern victory in Signal Iduna Park was in November 2017.
The current form curve
Both Dortmund and FC Bayern won their first duels after the Corona break: BVB the derby against Schalke (4-0), the team of Hansi Flick at Union Berlin (2-0). Bayern, unbeaten for 16 competitive games (15 wins), have ranked since the second day of the second half of the season where everyone suspected before the start of the season: at the top. BVB had taken its place in the sun on the first two matchdays before losing almost to the championship race due to defeats at Union, Bayern and Hoffenheim. In the second half of the season, however, the Favre eleven only won in the league – with one exception: the 3: 4 in Leverkusen. Thanks in part to the full mega transfer from Erling Haaland (10 goals in 9 second-round games), Borussia Dortmund is only three points away from Bayern.
The last duel: Bayern shoots bloodless Dortmund
The first leg of this Bundesliga classic went to the record champions as clearly as in the previous season. Bayern won 4-0 at the beginning of November last year, with returnees Mats Hummels making an own goal. The other goal scorers: Robert Lewandowski in a double and Serge Gnabry.
BVB – Bayern: Live on Sky
Sky Deutschland will have the majority of the Bundesliga games live and exclusive on offer until at least the end of next season. In Germany, you can see the clash between Dortmund and Bayern, the so called “German Clasico”, only live on Sky. The pay-TV broadcaster starts the preliminary reports on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (CEST), kick-off is 6:30 p.m.
BVB – Bayern odds: Munichs are going to win
With a win rate of 2.00 Neuer, Lewandowski and Co. are favorites in the top game on Tuesday. The Westphalian are currently quoted by Tipster with a 3.30, which means the highest Dortmund home win rate in the current Bundesliga season. In the last six Bundesliga duels between BVB and FCB there have always been at least 4 goals. So on Tuesday too? Odds for more than 3.5 goals at Tipster: 1.95. Or, like in the first leg, will a team remain without a hit? The bets “Both score a goal / no” is currently quoted at 2.85.
