The spread of the corona virus literally keeps the football world in suspense. The football is out of action in almost all relevant leagues. And nobody really knows exactly when the game can be restarted. It is now clear that UEFA EURO 2020 will be postponed by one year and is expected to start on June 11, 2021. We do not have to emphasize that there are more important things than professional football these days, but we also long for the end of the interruption. What is certain is that even if the game went on, the games would take place without the public. We have compiled the provisional dates for the continuation of the respective leagues, as announced by the respective associations – as of March 19, 2020.

Germany: 1. Bundesliga & 2. Bundesliga (break until April 3)

The Bundesliga and 2nd division will stop playing until April 2nd. At least. On March 30, the professional clubs want to get together again and decide. As a result of the postponement of the European Championship, the DFL now has more scope to catch up with the match days – the season could be played until the end of June. In addition, the state of Baden-Württemberg has announced that it will keep all sports facilities closed until April 19. For this reason it can be expected that the interruption of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga will continue until May 2nd. Maybe even longer.

Germany: 3. Liga (break until April 30)

Eleven match days are currently still outstanding in the 3rd division. The DFB announced last week that the 3rd division would be suspended until April 30 in the face of the corona pandemic. Due to the interruption, eight appointments would have to be made up for, which could be possible through English weeks and an expansion of the season that originally ran until May 16.

England: Premier League (break until April 30th)

Klopp, Guardiola and Co. will not go back to play until May at the earliest. The economically most successful football league in the world pauses until April 30th. In the meantime, there was even a rumor that the season would be canceled altogether, which would particularly deprive Liverpool FC of the almost certain championship title. The FA Cup, Championship (2nd League England) and FA Women’s Super League games will also be suspended until April 30th.

Spain: La Liga (break until April 3)

Real Madrid’s entire football team is currently in isolation after a Real basketball player became infected with Corona. As a result, La Liga officially suspended gaming for two weeks. Game days 28 and 29 will not take place for the time being. As of now, La Liga will resume on April 3rd or 4th.

Italy: Serie A (break until May 2nd)

The country most affected by the Corona crisis in Europe. “We hope to continue Serie A on May 3rd. Then we will evaluate whether the games will be in the stadiums with or without an audience. France: Ligue 1 (indefinite break)

In our neighboring country there will be no games in France’s top division and Ligue 2 for an indefinite period. The original plan was to allow all top division games to take place without spectators by April 15. When professional football will continue in France is still completely open.

Türkei: SüperLig (Pause auf unbestimmte Zeit)

Als letzte europäische Spitzenliga unterbrach die türkische SüperLig ihren Betrieb. Erst am 19. März wurde eine Pause auf unbestimmte Zeit durch Sportminister Mehmet Kasapoglu verkündet. Zuvor hatte der türkische Verband noch betont, dass der Spielbetrieb im türkischen Fußball mit Geisterspielen aufrecht erhalten bleibe. Türkischen Medien ist zu vernehmen, dass die Unterbrechung für einen Monat anhalten wird.

USA: MLS (break until April 10)
