The Bundesliga season starts on September 18, but the outfits of the first division clubs are of course already determined. Many were presented at the end of the past season, some not until the summer break. Either way, the shirts are already being hotly debated among the fans. Let’s take a look at all Bundesliga jerseys for 2020/21.
Bayern jersey 2020/21 with diamond design
Sure, the best-selling jersey in the 1st Bundesliga should once again be that of FC Bayern Munich. The difference to the previous jersey, which is reminiscent of the outer façade of the Allianz Arena due to the diamond look, is only marginal: the emphasis is on the classic, the iconic Bayern red dominates almost the entire new Bayern jersey 2020/21. The Adidas stripes disappear again under the armpits and line the sides of the body.
FC Bayern will play away in 2020/21 with a light gray jersey. Simplicity is also important when you’re away, the famous Adidas stripes are also discreetly in white under the armpits. Noticeable in the away jersey of the Munich team: The color orange, which fills the main sponsor and sleeve sponsor as well as the FCB emblem, is rather unusual.
The third jersey of FC Bayern Munich for the 2020/21 season is much darker – in dark red and black to be precise. The Bavarian diamond look is characteristic, with three “tiles” running like a sash from the top left to the bottom right of the shirt.
BVB jersey 2020/21 with flash look
The new Dortmund Borussia home jersey for the 2020/21 season is dynamic and wild. The Westphalians surprise with a fresh flash look, whereby a tiger pattern also appears at first glance. Many BVB fans will be reminded of the movie “Die wilden Kerle”. The new main sponsor with whom Erling Haaland and Co. will appear in the Bundesliga is also noticeable.
Borussia Dortmund will play away with a black jersey as usual in 2020/21. The details of the new BVB away jersey are still remarkable: the graffiti stronghold of Dortmund is reflected on the away jersey, as the spray look and street art tags are unmistakable on closer inspection. Brave and extravagant at the same time!
Schalke jersey 2020/21 classic royal blue
The new home jersey of FC Schalke 04 for the 2020/21 season will be available as a classic, simple royal blue shirt with a white collar. In general, S04 remains true to the line, without any great flourishes or even stripes. Tradition is very important to the miners, including outfitters Umbro.
Away from home, the professionals of FC Schalke 04 wear their home ground on their chests. The white away jersey adorns a blue map of Gelsenkirchen-Buer, whereby the Veltins Arena comes into its own. For the launch of the new Schalke jerseys, the club worked with the Gelsenkirchen rapper Weekend, who produced the song “Eine Liebe” – a homage to S04 and the city of Gelsenkirchen.
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 2020/21 jersey with homage to the new hotel
The new “8 Grad” hotel has existed right next to Borussia Park in Mönchengladbach for just a year and a half – and it is already being “found” on the foals’ jerseys. The diamonds on the Gladbachers’ jerseys are not unfamiliar, the diamonds that stretch across the entire chest are already a homage to the building in question, with diamonds also shimmering on the sides. With a new main sponsor, Gladbach wants to fully attack the league again in the traditional white jersey, and then with black jerseys in the Champions League.
Leverkusen surprises with the “McDonald’s” look on the jersey for 2020/21
There used to be a McDonald’s outside the stadium in the BayArena, but today the Werkself wear a jersey that is strongly reminiscent of the corporate colors of the fast food giant. Deep red with thick, yellow sleeve ends. Of course, both colors are represented in the club emblem, but the Bayer away jersey for the coming season has already been mocked as the “McD” shirt. At home, coach Peter Bosz’s team wears a black outfit with red applications.
Mainz with Croatia look, Werder with a city jersey, Frankfurt with an homage to the Römer
The other Bundesliga clubs also have new jerseys almost everywhere. The 1. FSV Mainz 05, for example, together with the new outfitter Kappa, has the sleeves in a red and white diamond pattern at first glance like the classic chessboard look of the Croatian national team. The 05ers once wore the checkered look on their jerseys, but the pattern for the jersey for the 2020/21 season was actually derived from the M of the club’s emblem.
1. FC Köln are leaving their home jersey for the 2020/21 season in the simple red, with the city skyline of Cologne appearing at second glance: In addition to Cologne Cathedral, the central mosque of the Rhine metropolis, which opened a few years ago, can also be seen there. Away, the Cologne team play in white, while the third shirt of FC is a kind of retro version of the yellow-green jersey from 20 years ago.
Werder Bremen will play in their usual green jerseys in 2020/21, with many diamonds incorporated into the fabric. With the white away jersey of the Bremen team, the sleeve area with a green pattern is particularly noticeable – clear proof of nostalgia for the Werder jersey, which was tried and tested at the end of the 80s. The dark third jersey, which depicts the city of Bremen and was already worn in the successful relegation against Heidenheim, is particularly popular with the fans.
Prices for jerseys: price insanity for a simple kit
Due to the reduction in VAT, many of the Bundesliga clubs’ jerseys for the 2020/21 season should not be more expensive than in the previous year. Little consolation, after all, there is hardly a shirt available for less than 90 euros. With flocking, the corresponding costs come on top. The original jersey 2020/21 in the “Authentic” version of FC Bayern costs 129.95 euros, the simpler version (100% polyester) still costs 89.95 euros.
Borussia Dortmund is calling for similar prices for the new 2020/21 home shirt: 126.71 euros for the “Authentic” version (81% polyester, 19% elastane). For the 100% polyester jersey from BVB, fans still have to shell out 82.85 euros.
Union Berlin makes it cheaper. The Iron will be equipped by Adidas from the 2020/21 season. The home jersey is available in the Union fan shop for 67.85 euros, around 22 euros cheaper than the Bayern jersey.
