Who will be the new manager at Bayern Munich? That’s probably the most exciting question of the Bundesliga. Who have real chances to become new head coach of the Bavarians? We have listed the top candidates for you:
Erik ten Hag
The Dutchman is currently under contract at Ajax Amsterdam. He gained international attention through his offensive football. And of course, everyone can remember the last Champions League season, when Ajax reached the semi-finals. Ten Hag already knows the FCB, he coached the reserve team of Munich from 2013 to 2015. Problem for Bayern: Ten Hag has recently been clearly aware of Ajax, in the running Season he will not leave the Amsterdamer. However, he has never denied a general interest to coach the German record champion. Thus he would probably be a realistic option for the new season.
José Mourinho
“The Special One” would be available immediately. The Portuguese has been without a club since he was sacked at Manchester United in December 2018. In any case, it is known that in the past he already expressed himself more positively about the Bundesliga. “Mou” should even have completed German lessons. So, he would be ready for action – but: Will the Bavarians come to terms with his quite annoying nature?
Arsène Wenger
One who could at least act as a solution until the end of the season would be former Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger. The French, not only due to its 1.90 meters height, is an absolute respect person, was for at Arsenal for 22 years and proposed since his resignation in 2018 any offers. With his 70 years, he is probably no one with the big prospect, but maybe he would be just the man for a short-term „rescue“ until the end of the season. Advantage: Wenger speaks fluent German, but he can put a smile on the faces of the five Frenchmen in the Bayern squad.
Thomas Tuchel
At the top of the list of candidates is also Thomas Tuchel, who is currently working for PSG. The ex-BVB coach is said to have been in successful discussions with Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the past – but the final commitment failed because of the lack of encouragement from Uli Hoeness. However, Hoeness is known to leave the club soon, so Tuchel could possibly become an option again. The German coach won’t leave Paris what means Tuchel would probably not a forward-looking solution.
Massimiliano Allegri
According to the Italian media, the former Juve coach is a hot candidate for the Kovac succession. After all, the 52-year-old could help immediately. He is without a club and has already worked with top stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian coached the “old lady” for five years and scooted every season. Small hook: Allegri announced after his retirement in the summer of 2019, to insert a sabbatical. He will return to the season 2020/21 back into the coach business.
Hansi Flick
Finally, even the current interim coach Hansi Flick could be a longer solution for Bayern Munich. This will probably depend on the performance in the next two games against Olympiakos and especially against the BVB. In the Champions League he could secure the early progress to the eight-legged. And in the Bundesliga a win against the main competitor from Dortmund will put the Bayern back on track – two games in which the ex-co-coach of Jogi Löw can prove his coaching skills.
